Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has initiated a landmark project in Coimbatore by laying the foundation stone for a ₹126 crore jewellery industrial park in the Kurichi area. This facility is designed to serve the gold and jewellery sector in the region, with a NABL‑accredited testing lab and all necessary infrastructure to support manufacturing and trade.

The project is expected to generate direct employment for 2,000 workers and indirect jobs for 1,500 people. During the ceremony, Stalin said the idea came after requests by local jewellery manufacturers and goldsmiths. He also announced other development initiatives in Coimbatore, including an upcoming IT complex over 17.17 acres near ELCOSEZ, which aims to employ around 36,000 youth.

Further projects include extending the Avinashi Road flyover by 5 km (costing ₹600 crore), setting up protective fencing in forest zones (₹7 crore), and upgrading drinking water infrastructure in multiple villages (₹26 and ₹51 crore schemes). The jewellery park is part of a broader push to enhance Coimbatore’s industrial base, promote job creation, and strengthen infrastructure in the city.
