Andhra Pradesh government has announced a plan to create 1 lakh blue‑collar jobs through its Overseas Manpower Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP). Minister Nara Lokesh said this scheme is part of a broader strategy to expand opportunities in manufacturing, services, and overseas employment. The government will work closely with foreign embassies, industry bodies, and skill agencies to ensure job placements and smooth transitions.
The largely industrial and service sectors will be targeted first, focusing on roles like technicians, machine operators, assembly staff, logistics, and maintenance. Lokesh emphasized that these jobs will open up in both domestic and international markets. He also urged skill development programmes to match the industry’s demand, and for constant monitoring of outcomes.
The state aims to integrate this push with other employment goals, such as creating overseas placements and strengthening career pathways for youth across sectors. The government believes that bridging the skills gap and ensuring job absorption will boost income levels and promote inclusive growth. With this plan, AP hopes to attract new private investment, expand its industrial base, and provide sustainable livelihood to its workforce.
