In a sweeping welfare housing drive, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced an ambitious target: building 10 lakh (1 million) houses by March 2026, ensuring every poor family secures a home. Under this accelerated rollout, 3 lakh homes are slated for handover next month, followed by 2 lakh units by the Sankranti festival. Officials have been tasked to classify projects into Category A, B, and C for streamlined delivery, and a 15‑day statewide survey will identify all homeless poor families, assigning them 3 cents of land in rural areas and 2 cents in urban regions.
The state has allocated over ₹2,013 crore to support this housing mission, which aligns with Central schemes like PMAY‑Urban, PMAY‑Gramin, and PM Janman. To enhance infrastructure, more than ₹3,296 crore has been earmarked for roads, drainage, electricity, and water in housing layouts where over half of the units are complete. So far, 9.5 lakh homes have been completed under these schemes, with nearly 3 lakh delivered this year and 19,000 more due soon.
This initiative underscores the state government’s commitment to “Housing for All”, integrating land allotment, financial planning, and high-impact infrastructure support to provide secure homes and uplift the economically vulnerable across Andhra Pradesh.
