Andhra Pradesh HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has declared that the state government will establish an International Law University and initiate a high-level probe panel into alleged irregularities at Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU). The announcement signals a renewed commitment to raising the bar for legal education while enforcing transparency in university operations.
The new International Law University is expected to adhere to global standards, attract top talent, and expand opportunities in legal research, international law curricula, and cross-border academic collaboration. Lokesh emphasized that this initiative will help Andhra Pradesh emerge as a hub for legal education in India, offering students advanced training and exposure to global legal systems.
Simultaneously, the probe panel will scrutinize financial, administrative, or procedural deviations at SKU, ensuring accountability and restoring institutional integrity. The minister expects the investigation to deter malpractice and strengthen governance in the higher education sector.
By combining visionary educational reforms with strict oversight, the government aims to create a robust ecosystem where excellence in legal education is matched by institutional trust. The plan underscores the state’s ambition to align its universities with international benchmarks, restore confidence among students and faculty, and reinforce Andhra Pradesh’s reputation as a center for quality higher education.
