The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings as a low‑pressure area forms over the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal, expected to intensify from August 12. This weather development is set to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall across large parts of Andhra Pradesh, including both North Coastal (NCAP) and South Coastal Andhra (SCAP), Rayalaseema, and Yanam regions.
Heavy rainfall is likely on August 12 in districts such as Krishna, NTR, Eluru, and Alluri Sitarama Raju. The downpour will expand to include Guntur, West and East Godavari, Konaseema, Prakasam, and others on August 13, escalating into very heavy rains by August 14 that may affect regions like Palnadu, Bapatla, Kurnool, Anantapur, Nellore, and more.
In response, the IMD has issued yellow alerts for August 12 and upgraded to orange alerts for August 13, signaling increased risk. Residents and authorities are urged to stay vigilant, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying areas, and follow updates on weather forecasts and safety warnings.
