Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has introduced a groundbreaking life insurance scheme prioritizing the welfare of municipal workers across the state. Under this new initiative, permanent municipal employees will receive a substantial ₹1 crore insurance cover, while outsourced municipal staff are assured ₹20 lakh in coverage. The plan also provides ₹8 lakh in financial aid to the children of such workers. This comes as part of the CM’s broader Swachh Andhra agenda, unveiled during a cleanliness drive held in Peddapuram.
The comprehensive insurance coverage extends to cases of permanent disability, ensuring that municipal workers and their families receive critical support in times of dire need. CM Naidu emphasized the importance of worker welfare, underscoring the government’s commitment to acknowledging the indispensable role of those maintaining public health and sanitation.
In tandem with this welfare initiative, Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his administration’s intent to make towns and villages garbage-free by October 2, reinforcing its Swachh Andhra vision. The inclusion of high-value insurance protections, particularly for municipal workers and outsourced staff, signals a progressive step toward social security and public sector employee welfare in Andhra Pradesh.
