Andhra Pradesh DGP Harish Kumar Gupta has called on probationary IPS officers to gain in-depth knowledge of advanced technologies—ranging from digital forensics to AI-based crime detection—to effectively prevent and investigate modern crimes. During a training session at the Forensic Science Laboratory in Vijayawada, he highlighted the need for proficiency in cyber forensics, ballistics, DNA analysis, and emerging tools, including mobile forensic kits and data-driven policing .
Gupta underlined that today’s crime landscape demands scientific rigor and technological adaptability. He emphasized that AI and real-time forensics not only accelerate investigations but also strengthen the legal admissibility of evidence. His remarks follow the successful conclusion of AP’s national-level AI hackathon, which showcased cutting-edge crime-control solutions and reinforced the state’s commitment to becoming a model of tech-driven policing.
This initiative is part of a broader modernisation effort, featuring mobile forensic units, cybercrime labs, and continuous capacity-building programmes. By equipping officers with AI, cyber, and forensic tools, Andhra Pradesh is aiming to raise conviction rates, reduce crime response time, and ensure justice through innovation.
