Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has laid out an ambitious roadmap to turn AP into a national logistics hub, emphasizing maritime, air, road, rail, and inland waterway connectivity. Speaking at the East Coast Maritime and Logistics Summit in Visakhapatnam, Naidu revealed plans to establish a Logistics University and a Civil Aviation University in the port city to nurture industry-ready talent.
Under the vision, he proposes constructing a port or harbour every 50 km along the state’s 1,053 km coastline to maximize maritime potential. With six operational ports and four more under development, the strategy aims to integrate multimodal infrastructure—linking ports, airports, rail and road networks with inland waterways—to reduce logistics costs and boost trade competitiveness. He also announced formation of a 20‑member advisory body from the shipping and logistics sectors to guide policy.
Naidu pointed out that logistics currently contributes 1 % to the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), and aims to raise it to 3 % in coming years. He stressed AP’s strategic geographical advantage to serve neighbouring states and support national supply chains. Through infrastructure scaling, academic institutions, and policy reforms, the state aims to emerge as a leading logistics and trade gateway in India by 2047.
