She described her transformative path to embodying Jhilmil—revealing that director Anurag Basu initially doubted her fit for the role. That led to an intensive five-day workshop, where Chopra delved into research, watched videos, and met children on the autism spectrum. To push her boundaries, Basu even asked her to hurl Hindi expletives at him—a moment she recalled as “hilarious, liberating,” and pivotal in creating Jhilmil.
Chopra also revealed that many pivotal scenes were improvised, highlighting the creative freedom and collaboration that shaped the film.
