The Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) has strongly condemned an attempted attack on the Chief Justice of India (CJI), calling it unacceptable and dangerous for our democracy. The BBA said such aggression strikes at the heart of the judiciary and the rule of law.
In response, the BBA declared a boycott of court duties starting October 7. Lawyers under its banner will not appear in courts unless clear action is taken to protect judges. The BBA demands strict security protocols, immediate investigation, and accountability for the person who tried to attack the CJI.
The BBA’s decision signals deep concern over the safety of the judiciary and the sanctity of legal institutions. They warned that without safeguards, judges may hesitate to act fearlessly in critical cases. The bar body also urged public support for its boycott, stressing that respecting judicial officers is vital for democracy.
By staging this protest, the BBA hopes to pressure authorities to upgrade court security and ensure such breaches are never repeated. The association insisted that its boycott is not against justice delivery—but against threats to justice itself.
