India Meteorological Department (IMD) and state disaster officials say that although Cyclone Ditwah nears the coast, many areas of Andhra Pradesh remained dry until Saturday afternoon. But calm may be temporary. Weather agencies predict heavy to very heavy rain, strong gusty winds and possible flash floods in south coastal and Rayalaseema regions over the next two to three days.
The cyclone, now over the southwest Bay of Bengal near Sri Lanka, is expected to make landfall along the Tamil Nadu–Puducherry–South Andhra coast around Sunday. Officials have issued orange alerts and warned residents — especially in low-lying or flood-prone zones — to stay alert. Fishermen are cautioned against venturing into the sea, as strong gusts and rough sea conditions may develop.
Local authorities are preparing for emergencies, and people are urged to stay updated. For now, the skies may be quiet — but heavy rain and rough weather may follow soon.
