In response, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has ordered DISCOMs and power utilities to remain on heightened weather preparedness and maintain uninterrupted power supply. Statewide control rooms are now operational 24/7, with nodal officers appointed to coordinate relief efforts and emergency response.
In a teleconference, officials were instructed to pre-position dewatering pumps, portable generators, and heavy restoration equipment like JCBs and cranes in vulnerable zones. To ensure electrical safety during the anticipated downpour, feeders are to be switched off when needed. All personnel—from field linemen to senior staff—are required to stay on duty until the risk subsides. Vigilance is especially critical near Ganesh pandals during the festive season to avoid accidents.
This initiative underscores the state government’s strategic focus on safeguarding public safety and minimizing power disruption amid unpredictable extreme weather. With both the Chief Minister and Energy Minister personally overseeing the situation, these proactive steps aim to bolster emergency readiness, coordinate rapid power restoration, and uphold community resilience during adverse rainfall conditions.
