Eluru Collector Sets July 25 Deadline to Enroll School Dropouts, Prioritizes Girls

Eluru District Collector V. Prasanna Venkatesh has launched a targeted education campaign to ensure the re-enrollment of school dropouts, notably girls, by July 25. Under his directive, officials are conducting thorough door-to-door surveys capturing key details such as age, caste, migration history, and socio-economic factors. The aim is to identify the estimated 915 out-of-school children and integrate them back into schools without delay. The initiative leverages robust welfare schemes—including Amma Vodi and Jagananna Vidya Kanuka—while distributing vitamin kits and educational support materials to ease the transition.

Collectors have been urged to coordinate across departments—including education, ICDS, and labour welfare—to maximize impact. A careful review of students taking Transfer Certificates is underway to prevent data gaps and track migrating children. Emphasizing girls’ education, the Collector stressed swift intervention, especially for teenage schoolgirls who are vulnerable to dropping out. With this proactive measure, Eluru aims to become a model district for universal school enrollment and gender-inclusive education in Andhra Pradesh.
