Andhra Pradesh is on high alert as the Godavari River continues its surge, prompting a second flood warning at the Dowleswaram Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage. The AP State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has mobilised rescue and relief operations across several vulnerable districts, including the Godavari delta region and Alluri Sitarama Raju Agency.
Emergency teams from the NDRF and SDRF have been deployed, while control rooms have been activated to coordinate the response. Residents in island and low‑lying villages across Konaseema, Eluru, and East Godavari districts have been urged to evacuate to safer grounds.
Relief operations remain active, with travel disruptions and inundation reported in numerous mandals. Agricultural lands in the delta region are already submerged, with floodwaters affecting critical livelihoods. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, warning that sustained heavy rain in upstream catchment areas may further elevate flood risks.
This escalation highlights the urgent need for coordinated action in flood-prone regions of Andhra Pradesh, encompassing emergency preparedness, real-time monitoring, and effective evacuation strategies. The state is urging inhabitants in vulnerable zones to stay alert and follow official guidance during this period of increased flood threat.
