India’s Adani Group is set to invest as much as USD 5 billion in Google’s planned AI data-centre hub, according to its CFO.
The move is part of a major push to build India’s digital infrastructure — with Google already committing to a broader USD 15 billion plan over five years to build a gigawatt-scale AI data-centre campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
Under the collaboration, AdaniConneX — a joint venture between Adani Enterprises and private data-centre operator EdgeConneX — would help build and run the infrastructure.
The demand for AI services is driving a surge in data-centre requirements worldwide. In India, such investment is seen as essential to handle large-scale AI compute needs, and could support cloud services, research, and AI application deployments across sectors.
The partnership signals a growing trend among major Indian firms to back large-scale AI infrastructure, betting on rapid growth in digital adoption and AI-driven demand.
