Union Minister of State Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar has emphasized the urgent need for seamless coordination between central and state governments to accelerate railway and housing developments in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. During a recent review meeting, the minister outlined several stalled or delayed projects, including ROBs (Rail Over Bridges), RUBs (Rail Under Bridges), railway bridge works (like Shankar Vilas, LC Nos. 3 & 6), and the modernization of Guntur Railway Station.

On the housing front, Pemmasani pointed to a mismatch: thousands of housing units built under previous programmes remain unoccupied because of poor location, lack of basic amenities, and unresolved title or land encroachment issues. Only a small fraction of intended beneficiaries have taken possession. He instructed officials to clear legal/title barriers, ensure proper infrastructure (transport, amenities), and improve accessibility.

In terms of deadlines, many railway and bridge tenders have been completed, and foundation work is being planned. For housing, special measures have been ordered to resolve both objectionable and non‑objectionable title concerns. Minister Pemmasani also allocated Rs. 5 crore for modernization of Guntur Railway Station and directed that monthly reviews be held to track progress across all these projects.
