Hyderabad’s Pustaka Launch: Community Library Boosts Reading and Learning

A new neighbourhood library and activity centre called Pustaka has opened in Hyderabad, aiming to bring back the joy of reading and learning in the community. Pustaka was created by sisters Mallika and Divya Pathi who wanted a space where people of all ages can read books, take part in activities, and meet others with shared interests.

The idea started with a concern that reading habits were fading in the digital age. The founders chose to turn an old house in Manikonda into a bright and welcoming space filled with a curated collection of over 3,000 books. Pustaka is more than a typical library — it also hosts storytelling sessions, discussion workshops, creative classes, and hobby events to engage children, adults and families.

Visitors can enjoy storytelling, DIY art activities, and community meet-ups that make the place lively and inviting. The library includes plans for membership options and a small cafe to foster casual gatherings and longer visits. Through these efforts, Pustaka hopes to create a strong culture of reading and connection among residents. This new space marks a positive step for local learning and shared experiences in the heart of Hyderabad.
