The 56th edition of the International Film Festival of India wrapped up on 28 November 2025 in Goa with a dazzling closing ceremony. Veteran actor Rajinikanth was felicitated with a lifetime-achievement honour for completing five decades in cinema. He thanked fans and officials, saying acting still felt fresh to him.
At the ceremony, the Vietnamese film Skin of Youth — a bold transgender love story set in 1990s Saigon — was awarded the Golden Peacock for Best Feature Film. The jury described the film as “bold and brave, stunning and stylish,” applauding its cinematography, production design, music and editing.
Other major winners included director Santosh Davakhar for his Marathi film Gondhal (Best Director), and actors Ubeimar Rios and Jara Sofija Ostan who won Silver Peacock awards for Best Actor (Male) and Best Actress (Female) respectively.
The festival — which ran from November 20 to 28 — screened over 240 films from 81 countries, including world and international premieres. Alongside awards, it celebrated the legacy of iconic filmmakers through retrospective screenings, and paid tribute to recent film-industry losses.
With its blend of global cinema, strong voices, and heartfelt tributes — capped by Rajinikanth’s honour and the top-prize for Skin of Youth — IFFI 2025 closed on a high.
