At the India Mobile Congress 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared India’s ambition to become a global data hub. He unveiled a new Made‑in‑India 4G stack and simultaneously activated 1 lakh towers, connecting millions more people across remote regions. His message: now is the moment to invest, innovate, and make in India.
Modi emphasized that data costs in India are extremely low—less than the price of a cup of tea—and this affordability has enabled mass digital access. He positioned India as a trusted partner in global supply chains, particularly in telecom manufacturing, semiconductors, and electronics. He highlighted that more than ten semiconductor fabrication units are in development across India.
The PM also stressed the importance of data sovereignty and cybersecurity, promising tighter laws against fraud and improved grievance redress mechanisms. He said that infrastructure expansion, cloud and data centers will be key to India’s digital future. With its large pool of skilled youth, rising developer ecosystem, and growing telecom market, India aims to lead next‑generation technology. Modi’s bold roadmap sets the stage for India’s push as a technology power and data stronghold.
