India has surged ahead in global smartphone manufacturing, as exports to the United States more than tripled in October 2025. Government data show that shipments rose to US$ 1.47 billion from US$ 0.46 billion in October 2024.
Over the April–October period this fiscal year, total smartphone exports to the US jumped to US$ 10.78 billion, compared with just US$ 3.60 billion in the same months last year. Despite global economic headwinds and tariff uncertainties, India’s smartphone industry has showed resilience.
Experts credit this growth to India’s expanding production-linked incentives, increasing vendor ecosystems, and growing investments by global smartphone brands. The rebound also reflects improved supply-chain integration and scale efficiencies — helping India claim a larger share of the global smartphone export market.
This surge signals a shifting global electronics supply landscape, with India emerging as a major mobile-manufacturing hub. As “Made in India” phones reach more hands worldwide — especially in the US — the country’s export footprint is strengthening.
