Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s official visit to India has resulted in several new India‑UK pacts that deepen collaboration in trade, defence, education, and technology. One major deal locks in a £350 million contract for the UK to supply lightweight multirole missiles to the Indian Army, reinforcing defence ties and boosting jobs in the UK.

Another agreement commits both countries to develop maritime electric propulsion systems for Indian naval vessels. They also established a military training cooperation deal, allowing exchange of flying instructors between the Royal Air Force (UK) and the Indian Air Force.

In education, nine British universities will open campuses in India, including in Bengaluru and Gujarat’s GIFT City, to meet rising demand for global standard higher education

On the trade front, the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), signed this year, is expected to significantly increase bilateral trade by 2030. Both leaders expressed a shared goal to double trade volumes through tariff cuts, market access, and stronger investment flows.

These joint initiatives signal a modern, strategic partnership rooted in technology, industrial cooperation, and shared values. They aim to deliver jobs, technological growth, and economic progress in both nations.
