The Indian Navy and Army have wrapped up Jal Prahar 2025, a strategic biannual amphibious exercise conducted in two phases along India’s eastern coastline. The first harbour phase was held in Visakhapatnam, focusing on troop induction, orientation, safety briefings, onboard coordination drills, integration training, and fostering camaraderie. During this period, Army units were embedded on warships to practice embarkation protocols and inter‑service operations.
The second sea phase took place off Kakinada, where full-scale amphibious operations were executed. Key activities included hard beaching, deployment of landing crafts (LCAs, BMPs), synchronized troop landings on the coast, and validation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for joint naval‑army missions. The exercise emphasized inter-service synergy, command and control coordination, tactical planning, and execution under complex maritime‑land interface conditions.
Jal Prahar 2025 is a clear demonstration of India’s commitment to enhancing amphibious warfare capability, coastal defense readiness, and joint service interoperability. By simulating real-world landing operations and refining protocols for beach head establishment, the forces aim to sharpen response capability for coastal security, disaster relief, and strategic deterrence. This successful exercise underscores India’s growing proficiency in executing complex maritime‑land operations and boosts preparedness for future amphibious missions.
