In Kadapa district, officials overseeing the uranium mining project have pledged support to villagers affected by the expansion of the tail-pond of UCIL. The project will acquire around 450 acres in the village of KK Kottala. The district collector assured residents that they would receive fair compensation, rehabilitation, and job opportunities.
He emphasized that all grievances will be carefully reviewed and officially communicated to the central government. The acquisition process will proceed only after forming a land-committee and issuing public notice. The administration promised full transparency and respect for the sacrifices made by villagers handing over their land.
UCIL has been directed to honour earlier commitments — including jobs and compensation — and to speed up relief payments. Officials also pledged social-welfare support: medical camps, improved sanitation, housing, and other basic amenities for affected families.
The state aims to balance national development needs with local welfare. The assurances come as authorities prepare to expand the uranium project while promising to safeguard the rights and well-being of land-owning villagers. The focus remains on fair treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term social support for impacted residents.
