In a major crackdown on counterfeit activity, Kadapa police joined forces with JSW Steel Coated Products to raid a fraudulent manufacturing unit producing fake JSW Silver shutter parts. The operation targeted SDS & Sons, where the illegal production of shutter components bearing the JSW Silver trademark was uncovered. Authorities seized 18 counterfeit parts along with the moulds used for etching the fake branding.
A First Information Report (FIR 323/2025) has been lodged at Kadapa Taluk Police Station. The charges include multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) — such as 417 (cheating), 420 (fraud), 482, 483, 485, and 486 — and violations under the Trademarks Act including sections 102, 103, 104, and 107, related to trademark infringement.
JSW Steel declared a zero‑tolerance stance toward counterfeiting, affirming its commitment to protect brand integrity, distribution partners, and consumers from substandard and fake products. The company had already coordinated a third‑party investigation to confirm misuse of its registered mark before the raid. This incident highlights the growing challenge of trademark violations in manufacturing sectors and the need for vigilance by corporations and law enforcement alike.
