As Vijayawada readies for the grand 11-day Dasara festivities at the revered Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri, Andhra Pradesh Police have bolstered security with cutting-edge technology and extensive manpower. A staggering deployment of over 5,500 police personnel is being made, spanning traffic control, crowd management, and security duties in three shifts to ensure seamless operations and safe darshan experiences for all devotees.
To manage the expected surge—an estimated 1 lakh devotees daily, climbing to 1.5–2 lakh on peak days like Moola Nakshatram—officials are implementing advanced surveillance through 42 drones, 5,000 CCTV cameras, and AI-backed tools. These devices feed into a 24/7 Command Control Room, enabling real-time coordination among officers, traffic officials, and support teams across departments.
The integration of these technologies and manpower highlights a commitment to maintaining public order and enhancing the devotee experience. From barricaded queue lines to regulated traffic, digital tracking of crowd movement, and quick response teams, the police aim to ensure a harmonious and spiritually uplifting Dasara season for all.
