Andhra Pradesh’s welfare audit has revealed that nearly one lakh individuals have been deemed ineligible for disability pensions following the reverification of SADAREM certificates. Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy confirmed that out of 5.10 lakh certificates issued under the SADAREM (Software for Assessment of Disabled for Access, Rehabilitation and Empowerment) scheme, verification of 4.50 lakh has been completed, identifying ineligible beneficiaries currently drawing pensions.
A significant number — around 60,000 beneficiaries — have not responded to the reverification process. The authorities have decided to reissue notices to these individuals, warning that failure to participate will result in pension suspension.
The Minister pointed out that the exercise aims to eliminate misuse of disability benefits, noting that the previous administration may have inadvertently allowed non‑eligible individuals to acquire disability certificates and access pensions improperly. Furthermore, Pulivendula district registered the highest number of bogus beneficiaries, with 1,708 individuals flagged during the process.
This reverification drive reflects a broader push for welfare accountability and transparent administration in Andhra Pradesh, ensuring that disability support reaches genuine recipients and curbing fraudulent claims under social welfare mechanisms.
