Kurnool Municipal Corporation Commissioner P. Viswanath has issued a public appeal for resident engagement to transform Kurnool into a model city. He emphasized that citizen cooperation is critical to improving urban sanitation, strict waste segregation, and compliance with civic regulations. From August 1, a structured construction and demolition (C&D) waste management system will be instituted, featuring a dedicated helpline for scheduling waste pickups and recycling at Joharapuram.
Nominal transport fees will apply. To address stray cattle and dog menace, the civic body has announced seizure and shelter measures with penalties for negligent owners. Infrastructure enhancement priorities include road repairs, improved drainage systems, functional sewage treatment plants (58 MLD under construction), upgraded street lighting, and phased development of nine public parks. A 24/7 toll-free response team will soon be active to resolve civic issues—from water supply and sanitation to lighting and public complaints. A special tax collection drive aims for ₹100 crore annual revenue, underscoring that timely contributions will fund cleanliness, vendor regulation, and improved service delivery. Viswanath insisted on public ownership in this urban renewal mission.
