The Andhra Pradesh Tribal Welfare Department is launching a #motherTongueEducation initiative by appointing 15 native #Koya and #Muria language instructors across 12 government primary schools in #AlluriSitaramaRajuDistrict, spanning the #Sabari and #Godavari riverbanks. The educators, locally sourced aged 21–50, will begin ten-month assignments starting July 2025 under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA), Chintoor. In the Sabari zone (V.R. Puram Mandal), seven instructors will serve six schools, with the remaining seven deployed across seven schools in Yetapaka Mandal near the Godavari. One specialist will support Vegithota school in Chintoor Mandal.

This program aims to strengthen #tribalLanguagePreservation, enhance student engagement, and improve learning outcomes through culturally relevant education. It also benefits the Muria communities, who speak Koya dialects, by ensuring instruction in their mother tongue. By embedding native-language pedagogues in rural tribal schools, Andhra Pradesh reinforces its commitment to #inclusiveEducation, linguistic diversity, and the rights of indigenous communities along critical riverine regions.
