NTPC Green Energy (through its arm NTPC REL) has struck a major deal with the Gujarat government to jointly develop 10 gigawatts of solar and 5 gigawatts of wind power capacity in the state. The MoU was signed during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference at Mehsana.
Under this pact, Gujarat will host large renewable energy projects that will expand its clean energy base. The solar component may include solar parks, rooftop schemes or utility‑scale plants, while the wind portion will tap sites with strong wind potential.
This deal comes as NTPC Green has already been commissioning capacity in Gujarat. Recently, it declared 212.5 MW solar from the Khavda‑I project and 52.8 MW wind (as part of a hybrid project) in commercial operation. These additions reinforce NTPC’s commitment to scaling up in Gujarat.
For Gujarat, this alliance adds momentum to its reputation as an Indian renewable energy hub. For NTPC Green Energy, it helps meet its strategic targets and expand its renewables portfolio. As these projects move ahead, they may bring investment, jobs, and a stronger clean energy grid in the state.
