Ongole witnessed an electrifying display of national pride as a 3,600‑ft Indian flag was carried in a grand unity rally, organized by Vasavi Clubs with support from the Prakasam district police . The rally began at the District Police Parade Ground and stretched to Addanki Bus Stand, drawing participation from students, public officials, and prominent figures like MLA Damacharla Janardhan and Mayor G. Sujatha. The event symbolized patriotism, peace, and unity, inspiring hundreds along the route.

Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar paid homage to Pingali Venkayya, the Telugu freedom fighter who designed India’s national flag, underscoring its emotional significance . He emphasized that the sight of the Tricolour evokes deep nationalistic sentiment rooted in non-violence. Students, college youth, district officials, and local police marched together, reinforcing communal harmony and civic spirit.
