Bonela Vijaya Chandra, the MLA from Parvatipuram, has urged government authorities to focus on the establishment of food processing units and critical infrastructure development in Parvatipuram Manyam district. Representing a constituency heavily reliant on agriculture and tribal communities, he highlighted the need to leverage local agro-production to generate income and stem rural out-migration .
MLA Chandra emphasized that road connectivity, irrigation infrastructure, cold storage facilities, and agro-processing clusters are essential to transform the region’s agrarian base into value-added economic growth. These efforts align with district goals to establish agro-based industries and encourage Public–Private–People partnerships under the Vikasit Andhra Pradesh development initiative.
District Collector A. Shyam Prasad has similarly set priorities under NITI Aayog’s District Agri Rural Transformation Plan (DARTP), which includes actions for irrigation projects, crop diversification (including turmeric, banana, millets), and support for Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) managing cold storage and market integration
The proposal aims to bridge infrastructure gaps—such as improving farm-to-market roads, irrigation at scale, and supply chain support—to catalyze economic growth and enhance agricultural incomes in Manyam district.
