In the Union Railway Budget 2026–27, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh received their highest ever railway allocations. Telangana was granted ₹5,454 crore for rail projects, while Andhra Pradesh got ₹10,134 crore for the same period. Both figures mark significant rises in funding and reflect a strong focus on improving rail infrastructure in the southern region.
The fund increase will help expand rail networks, upgrade tracks, and add new lines. Officials say both states have fully electrified their rail systems, a major milestone for efficient travel. Projects worth nearly ₹48,000 crore are already underway in Telangana, including capacity expansion and station modernization.
Three high-speed rail corridors will originate or end in Hyderabad, strengthening regional connectivity to cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune. These corridors will cut travel times and boost economic activities across states.
Andhra Pradesh’s higher allocation supports ongoing railway infrastructure works worth over ₹92,000 crore. The state has also achieved full electrification, and future plans include major route enhancements and improved logistics support.
Railway experts say this budget push will help build faster, greener, and more efficient rail services, making travel easier and supporting growth in industry, trade, and tourism across both states.
