Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have officially appointed Varun Aaron as their bowling coach for the 2026 IPL season. He replaces James Franklin, who served the role for the past two seasons.
Aaron ended his playing career in January 2025, declaring retirement from all formats. His international résumé includes nine Tests and nine ODIs for India. In the IPL, Aaron featured across nine seasons, representing teams such as Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans, and others. With Gujarat Titans, he was part of their title‑winning campaign in 2022.
At 35, Aaron now steps into a coaching role for the first time at this level. Prior to this, he worked as a consultant at the MRF Pace Academy in Chennai, training bowlers behind the scenes. SRH described Aaron’s appointment as a “fiery addition” to their coaching staff via social media.
With this change, SRH aims to inject fresh energy and expertise into their pace attack, leveraging Aaron’s first‑hand experience as a fast bowler.
