In a bid to curb air pollution ahead of the festive season, Prakasam District Collector P. Raja Babu has appealed to every individual to contribute by altering their daily routines. As part of the statewide “Swarna Andhra – Swachh Andhra” initiative, the district marked this month’s campaign theme as “Clean Air”, holding a cascade of events including a tree‑plantation drive at the Collectorate.

Speaking on the occasion, the collector encouraged residents to choose walking or cycling for short distances and to opt for public transport instead of personal vehicles for longer trips. He emphasised that small lifestyle changes can collectively make a big impact in protecting the environment. Officials reinforced this message by prohibiting petrol and diesel vehicles from entering the Collectorate premises.

Led by the collector himself, who walked from his residence to the office in an act of leading by example, the drive also included senior officials such as DRO B Chinna Obulesu, DEO Kiran Kumar and Municipal Commissioner Dr Venkateswara Rao.

This month‑long focus on air‑quality improvement in Prakasam is part of a broader strategy to raise awareness on vehicular emissions, tree cover and community responsibility as the region aligns with the clean‑air goals under the Swarna Andhra agenda.
