The Telangana government has announced that all transport vehicles must have reflective stickers, reflective tapes and rear marking plates from February 20, 2026 to improve night visibility and reduce road accidents. The rule applies state-wide and is part of a new road safety policy.
Officials said transport vehicles must be fitted with reflectors that carry a QR code linked to a special verification system. This QR code will be scanned by authorities to check that the reflectors and tapes are genuine and approved. Vehicles that do not have the verified reflective materials will not be issued a Fitness Certificate.
The state has empanelled five authorised manufacturers whose products meet safety and quality standards. Only reflective tapes and plates from these approved companies will be accepted. Vehicle owners must get the reflective materials installed by authorised dealers and obtain an Affixation Certificate.
Transport officials say this step will make commercial and heavy vehicles easier to see at night. They hope the move will help cut down on accidents caused by poor visibility, especially on highways and rural roads.
