As the Maha Deepam festival draws near in Tiruvannamalai, authorities are ramping up security in a big way. For this year’s celebration at the Arunachaleswarar Temple, more than 15,000 police personnel have been deployed to manage the large crowd expected.
To help devotees watch the main ceremony, 26 LED screens will be set up across the temple premises. Special crime-prevention units will patrol the busy Girivalam path, aiming to stop harassment, extortion, or any crowd-related issues.
The security plan also includes watch towers, surveillance, medical teams, and close coordination with civic and religious bodies — ensuring basic facilities for devotees during the festival. Authorities expect a very large turnout, so the preparations aim to make the event safe and orderly for everyone attending.
