UST and Kaynes Semicon have announced a major partnership to invest ₹3,330 crore in an OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly & Test) facility in Sanand, Gujarat. This move is aligned with India’s ambition to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem and reduce dependence on imports.

Under the joint venture, UST will bring its global semiconductor client base, AI‑driven process design, and real‑time data analytics, while Kaynes offers its production experience and local infrastructure. The facility will serve sectors such as electronics, electric vehicles (EVs), renewables, and consumer technology.

The OSAT segment remains nascent in India, and this investment is expected to fill critical gaps in chip assembly and testing.UST plans to act as a bridge for global chipmakers looking to leverage India’s OSAT capabilities. The project will also support the government’s “Make in India” and semiconductor self‑reliance strategies.

By deploying advanced process controls, predictive maintenance, and digital engineering, the JV aims for high quality yields and efficiency. This step marks a key shift in India’s role in the global semiconductor value chain and may encourage further investments in chip manufacturing.
