South Central Railway’s Principal Chief Commercial Manager (PCCM), N. Ramesh, recently conducted a comprehensive review of Amrit Bharat Station redevelopment work in the Vijayawada division. The meeting involved key officials, including Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Narendra Patil, and focused on advancing station modernisation, freight development, and overall commercial performance .
During the review, the PCCM praised ongoing efforts and urged branch officers to speed up delivery on vital tasks like approach road construction, LED signage installation, platform cover works, and CCTV deployment—all vital components of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Additionally, the review covered plans for 15 goods sheds earmarked across the division, with five prioritized for completion by December 2025. These upgrades are expected to significantly enhance cargo handling efficiency and boost freight revenue for SCR .
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, launched by Indian Railways, aims to upgrade hundreds of stations with modern passenger amenities—waiting halls, escalators, lifts, free Wi-Fi, kiosks, and seamless multimodal integration. In Andhra Pradesh alone, 72 stations are slated for redevelopment under the scheme, backed by strategic funding and phased implementation .
Ramesh’s review reflects SCR’s commitment to delivering world‑class railway facilities under the scheme—ensuring stations in the Vijayawada division meet escalating standards of passenger convenience and operational efficiency. These infrastructure drives align with wider efforts to position Andhra Pradesh as a key hub in India’s modern rail transformation.
