The Ashada Masam Saare Mahotsavam has drawn to a glorious close at Vijayawada’s revered Kanaka Durga Temple atop Indrakeeladri. Spanning from June 26 to July 24, the month-long festival included traditional Varahi Navratri, followed by the popular Shakambari Utsavams from July 8–10. Central to the celebrations was the Ashada Saree Samarpana, where approximately 15,000 groups of women devotees offered silk sarees to Goddess Durga, symbolizing profound devotion .
In the final week, a massive crowd participated in giri pradakshina, spiritual homams, and poornahuti rituals, culminating in the festival’s finale . The temple administration, led by EO VK Seena Naik, efficiently handled the influx—canceling ticket bookings, offering free darshan, crowd management via CCTV, and providing water, tents, and refreshments. This high-energy religious event—with tens of thousands in attendance—underscored the deep cultural significance of Ashada Masam, reinforcing Vijayawada’s role as a major spiritual tourism hub during the monsoon season.
