The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a landmark data centre investment by Google’s subsidiary, Raiden Infotech India Ltd. The company will pump in ₹87,520 crore to build what could become one of India’s largest data centres in Visakhapatnam. This approval came at the SIPB meeting, where total investments worth ₹1.14 lakh crore were cleared across sectors.
The proposed plan spans three campuses across Tarluvada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli. Officials say this project will transform Vizag into a key digital infrastructure hub, attracting cloud, AI, and telecom players. The investment is expected to generate tens of thousands of jobs, both direct and indirect.
With this move, Andhra Pradesh signals its ambition to be a major data hub in India. The government aims to support this by strengthening power, connectivity, and regulatory frameworks. The project aligns with national goals on data sovereignty, cloud infrastructure, and AI development. Once completed, the data centre could catalyze further technology investments in the region and spur innovation in adjacent sectors.
