The Telangana government has launched a one-time settlement scheme offering a 90% interest waiver on property tax arrears in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area. Under this plan, property owners must pay the outstanding principal amount and only 10% of the interest at once to qualify for the big waiver. This applies to both private and government properties within GHMC limits.
The government issued a government order in early December 2025 to implement this scheme for the 2025-26 financial year. Taxpayers can take advantage of the offer to significantly reduce their total dues and avoid the buildup of future interest on old unpaid taxes.
The interest waiver scheme is designed to encourage more property owners to settle their tax debts quickly. By cutting the interest by 90%, the government aims to increase tax compliance and improve GHMC’s revenue collection without placing heavy burdens on residents. This scheme is similar to previous waivers offered in earlier years and reflects ongoing efforts to make property tax payments easier for citizens.
