In a bold announcement, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh will become a zero garbage state by January 1. At the Swachh Andhra awards ceremony in Vijayawada, Naidu detailed his plan to remove all visible waste and enforce strict cleanliness.
He revealed that 100 new Swachh Ratham vehicles will collect solid waste using a barter‑based system. He also declared that the former government’s garbage tax is abolished and all legacy waste piles have been cleared. The target is visible cleanliness across all urban and rural areas.
Naidu credited the Swachh Andhra Corporation and the state government for processing 8.5 million metric tonnes of waste left behind. He honoured sanitation workers with awards and called them true heroes. He emphasized that making Andhra Pradesh clean and green will require full citizen cooperation.
He urged every resident to segregate waste, reduce plastics, and use composting at home. Naidu’s push for zero waste, cleanliness drive, and garbage-free Andhra Pradesh is now central to his government’s agenda. A cleaner state, he said, is a healthier state—and visible change must come by January.
