Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is charting an ambitious course to transform the state into a global maritime hub by replicating the successes of Singapore’s Tuas Port—a beacon of innovation, automation, and port‑industry integration. Naidu highlighted Tuas’s evolution into the world’s largest fully automated port, poised to handle 65 million TEUs by the 2040s, with smart infrastructure powered by AI-driven vehicle systems, digital traffic management, and sensitive ecological design.
Andhra Pradesh’s vision aligns with its Maritime Policy 2024, which emphasizes a hub‑and‑spoke approach combining port development, ship‑building clusters, industrial corridors, and coastal tourism. The state intends to leverage its 1,053‑km coastline through phased projects, including new ports, greenfield infrastructure, and integration with Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor under the East Coast Economic Corridor framework.
To mirror Tuas’s port‑industry synergy, AP plans seamless layouts with logistics parks, maritime services, and adjacent industrial zones. The state also plans partnerships in maritime geospatial technology, digital twin modelling, and sustainable practices showcased at Singapore’s Maritime Digital Twin initiative. This model underpins broader goals to boost trade, attract global investments, generate coastal jobs, and establish Andhra Pradesh as a strategic port-led economy by 2030 and beyond.
